![]() ![]() The first gen SPX is roughly the same speed as an i5 SP6 if you want to use that as a gauge - but SP6 machines would be lacking usbc, the battery life, and LTE. I've noticed the price has gone down a lot, especially 2nd hand. If you have a spare data sim (Google Fi gives them out for free with a voice line for example) it's really convenient. My point is I'm HARD on my batteries and my SPX still doesn't disappoint. Previously on my SP4 I'd get less than hour after 2 years and before that, my mba11" was getting less than 2 after 2 years. I mean, 2 years later I am getting 6-7 hours on a charge. Depending on your flow, it might be tough getting there, but if you can it's totally worth it. OOTB back in 2019 I easily got 9 hours if I used exclusively ARM and ARM64 apps. OR they're comparing x86 apps versus x86 apps on the SP# and SPX. People like to dig down on the battery life, but I really feel like they're comparing the numbers. I haven't personally tried those two games so they might run fine.īattery Life. THAT said, I wouldn't poopoo the SPX because of that. That's going to be the biggest issue with number 3, it doesn't matter if it's a light game, if the game is written in OpenGL (and cross platform titles often are) it'll run like shit or simply crash. Things have improved a bit with the compatibility layer, but it's still so-so. I think we get OpenGL 1.0 support, but that's it. With Adreno, well, they just give MS the specs and MS writes the driver. However, in the 圆4/x86 world you could just get drivers from Nvidia, AMD, or Intel for your gpu. I mean, they make DirectX, a competitor to OpenGL. Not quite GPU work, and that's the biggest issue. And I do mean heavy use - VSCode, WSL, nodejs, etc. I get maybe 6-7 hours out of it after 2 years of heavy use - new I'd get 9 hours. I have had my SPX since launch and I enjoy it. However, I love my SPX and thought I'd offer a different viewpoint. ![]()
